You should try and wax your car at least 3 times per year. This will help keep your paint looking new! I myself, try to wax at least 5 times a year. In Utah, the summers are hot and the sun can really hurt your paint. During the winter, salt is dumped onto the road to melt the snow. This salt can cause rust if not removed immediately.
Washing your car while the car is hot can make it difficult to dry without leaving water spots. Try and wait until you car has cooled down, or try washing in the shade. The heat of the car will increase the drying time of water and soap.
I know its very tempting, but dry your car with a soft towel. You can try a drive around the neighborhood, but this will most likely result in watermarks.
