Lexus GX460 Is Unsafe
When I wave to my family driving away, I like the feeling of knowing that they are driving in a safe, well built car. After all, they are my life and I don’t know what I would do without them. So when it comes to car safety and picking out the best car for my family to drive, I like to do all the research that I can.
Toyota’s reliability and safety reputation has been hit hard recently. First with the accelerator problem, and now with Consumer Reports reporting that the Lexus GX460 is not a safe car.
According to Consumer Reports, the Lexus GX460 has some handling problems that could lead to rollover and possibly serious injury or death. The company usually doesn’t label a car with a “don’t buy” label, but they felt that they had no choice.
The problem occurs when the driver take his foot off the gas pedal while driving quickly through a sharp turn. The rear end of the vehicle slides toward the outside of the turn. This is common in a lot of other SUV’s, but it is solved when the electronic stability control system detects and quickly stops the slide. But with the Lexus GX460, the control didn’t kick in until after the car was almost sideways.
“This is the first time we have seen it in an S.U.V. with E.S.C.” he said, referring to electronic stability control. Consumer Reports said it was “rare” for the magazine to “judge a vehicle’s performance not acceptable.” The last instance was with the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Limited in 2001.
Not only should you wash your car often, you should also read online about your car. A recall could happen on your car, and you might not even know until its too late.
